Nelson Lee Novick, M.D. and his staff have provided a health education resource for its patients and the New York City, New York community. We hope you find the skin care information here to be helpful.

Acne – Acne ("zits," "pimples") is a common skin condition affecting our teenage and adult patients. Dr. Novick offers a review of acne skin care, acne scars, acne myths, acne surgery, acne medications (retinoids, benzoyl peroxide), and other acne treatments. Learn more about acne from the AAD.

Aging Skin – Our skin changes as we age, including the appearance of wrinkles. There are now many new and innovative anti-aging treatments available that provide a more youthful appearance. Dr. Novick provide reviews of several cosmetic procedures, including dermaspacing, microdermabrasion, radiowave skin tightening, medications (tretinoin, Latisse), botulinum toxin (Botox), buffing (manual dermasanding), chemical peels, dermal fillers (Restylane, Juvederm), sclerotherapy, and laser and light treatments, such as Intense Pulsed Light (IPL). Learn more about Aging Skin from the AAD.

Non-Surgical Lifts and Enhancements – Dr. Novick has developed a variety of innovative, non-invasive approaches to common cosmetic issues of the face, neck, breasts, and hands

Moles (Nevi) – Moles, or nevi (singular: nevus), are the most common skin growths in humans. They can be present at birth or acquired throughout life. The incidence of moles increases throughout childhood, peaks in adolescence, and typically wanes in older adulthood. Certain types of moles carry a risk for developing malignant melanoma, a serious form of skin cancer. Sunburns, particularly in childhood, can increase the risk. Learn how Dr. Novick sculpts away moles with innovative techniques.

Sunscreens – The regular use of sunscreen is an important step to prevent sunburns, skin cancer and premature aging of the skin. Dr. Novick reviews practical sunscreen information, including SPF values, types of ultraviolet radiation (UVA and UVB), sunscreen ingredients and tips on using sunscreen. Learn more about sunscreen.
