Refills and Rebates

You may have a prescription that allows you to obtain refills directly through your pharmacy. Please call your pharmacy to determine if they can dispense a refill without further authorization from us. (Pharmacy telephone numbers are available in the directory below)

You should plan on contacting the pharmacy at least 24 hours prior to picking up your medication. This gives them time to prepare your prescription and reduces your waiting time.

If the pharmacy needs our authorization, we will take the following into consideration:

  • Was the prescription written by our practice? We do not refill medications that we have not prescribed.
  • Have we seen you in the last year? We require an office visit at least every 12 months to continue any long-term topical therapy. Oral therapy or pills require visits at least every 6 months.  If we have not seen you in the recommended time frame, please call to make an appointment.
  • Does the medication require an exam or lab test? Some medications are subject to federal or state regulations and cannot be refilled without a physical exam or mandatory lab test.

We regret that we cannot refill any prescriptions when appointments are missed.   Please reschedule the appointment and ask for refills then.   No prescription will be renewed if more than 1 year has passed since your last visit.   Oral medications and some topical creams require more frequent visits.

Please call our office at 704-341-0090 and leave a message on the nurses' line with your name, birth date, name and dosage of medication, preferred pharmacy name and number and instructions.   We can mail, fax or have the prescriptions at the front desk for you to pick up.   Please allow 24 business hours for any refill.   The on call physician after office hours will not refill medications.
