Skin Care

Soaps and Emollients

 
 Basic Skin Care Tips:
  • Apply emollients to damp skin within 3 minutes of exiting the shower/bath.
  • When drying – pat, do not rub.
  • For sensitive or irritated skin, choose products that are fragrance-free.
  • Drink 6-8 glasses of water daily
  • Protect the sensitive skin around your eyes with sunglasses

Soaps

if you have dry or irritated skin, we recommend gentle soaps. Additionally limit soaping only to the "hot" spots -(face, under arms, breasts, belly button, groin, feet, hands).

Body Emollients

When choosing an emollient - remember that ointments are more moisturizering than creams and creams are more moisturizing than lotions.

Hand Emollients

Ointments applied to the hands at bedtime and then covered in cotton gloves can dramatically improve the condition of dry, irritated hands.

Barrier Creams can help protect the hands even through intermittent washings. Often though, you will need to ask your pharmacist to special order these.

Facial Moisturizers

Both men and women should use a moisturizer with built-in sunscreen
(SPF 15-30) daily.
