Helen Mary Torok, M.D., Anya Enriquez, M.D., Patrick Killian, M.D., Leonard Torok, M.D., Richard Schwartz, M.D., and the staff of Trillium Creek Ohio have provided a health education resource for its patients and the Medina, Ohio community. We hope you find the skin care information here to be helpful.
- Acne – Acne ("zits," "pimples") is a common skin condition affecting our teenage and adult patients. Trillium Creek Ohio offers a review of acne skin care, acne myths, acne and diet, acne medications (retinoids, benzoyl peroxide), and other acne treatments. Learn more about acne from the AAD.
- Botox – Botox (botulinum toxin) is a popular anti-aging treatment for wrinkles and other signs of aging. Helen Torok, M.D. offers reviews of Botox and its use in cosmetic dermatology.
- Chemical Peels – Chemical Peels are acidic solutions used to rejuvenate the surface of your skin. The solution acts on the outermost skin layers – causing them to disintegrate and be "peeled" away to reveal the underlying, unaffected skin. Learn more about Chemical Peels from the AAD.
- Erbium Microlaser Peel – An Erbium Microlaser Peel can dramatically improve the tone and texture of your skin, giving you a more youthful look quickly and effectively.
- (IPL) Intense Pulsed Light – Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) uses high intensity pulses of visible light to rejuvenate the skin. Although it is not an actual laser, IPL works in much the same way as lasers in that light energy is absorbed into particular cells in the skin.
- Juvederm – Dr. Torok offers Juvéderm™, which is a dermal filler advance from Allergan, Inc., the makers of Botox® cosmetic. Juvéderm™ is a "next generation" smooth gel non-animal dermal filler that plumps lips, sculpts cheeks and fills in wrinkles and folds.
- Laser Treatment for Spider Veins – Laser technology now permits the safe and effective removal of spider veins on the legs, face and nose. The laser light heats the vein without burning the skin above.
- Mohs Surgery – Since the 1980s, the most successful procedure for removing nonmelanoma skin cancers has been Mohs Micrographic Surgery.
- Pityriasis Rosea – Pityriasis rosea is a scaly, itchy, reddish-pink rash that is common in children and young adults and usually occurs in the Spring and Fall seasons.
- Portrait® Skin Regeneration – Portrait Skin Regeneration transfers nitrogen plasma energy deep into your skin to initiate regeneration well below the surface, thereby remodeling the skins architecture. This creates dramatic results that improve over time as the new foundation progressively replaces the old.
- Psoriasis – Trillium Creek Ohio offers reviews of the different types of this chronic skin disorder (plaque psoriasis, guttate psoriasis, and scalp psoriasis) and the psoriasis treatment options that are available, including corticosteroids, vitamin D derivatives, retinoids, phototherapy (PUVA), cyclosporine, and new biologic treatment options. Learn more about psoriasis from the AAD, or visit the National Psoriasis Foundation regarding psoriasis management and support groups.
- Radiesse® – Radiesse is a long-lasting injectable filler used to smooth wrinkles and defects in the skin. It is the first calcium hydroxyapatite injectable implant used for soft tissue augmentation.
- Sciton® ProFractional™ Laser – The Sciton ProFractional Laser is an FDA approved device used by Trillium Creek for fractional photothermolysis skin resurfacing. Fractional photothermolysis is an advanced resurfacing procedure that can dramatically improve the texture of the skin with minimal or no downtime.
- Sclerotherapy – Trillium Creek has been using the well-known method of sclerotherapy to effectively remove spider veins for years. This safe and affordable treatment can produce dramatic results.
- Sculptra® – Sculptra is an injectable product that restores and corrects the signs of fat loss. It is effective in filling wrinkles and furrows, making the skin appear smoother and firmer. Learn more about Sculptra from Helen Torok, M.D.
- Seborrheic Dermatitis – Seborrheic dermatitis is a very common condition that causes waxy, yellowish, scaly patches to form on oily areas of the skin such as the scalp, eyelids, ears and in the folds around the nose.
- Tissue Tightening – Tissue tightening is a non-invasive procedure performed by the medical professionals at Trillium Creek aimed at tightening and/or lifting sagging, wrinkled skin.
- VeinWave™ – Trillium Creek is pleased to offer state-of-the-art VeinWave therapy for removal of small, unwanted thread veins and vascular blemishes on your legs and face.
The Library includes patient handouts and links to trusted health resources, such as the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD).
